View all 50 ReflectionsToday is the 40th anniversary of your death and I have been struggling to write this message. My mother and I visited your grave today to bring you blue flowers. As we drove back from the cemetery, she shared more memories of you.
Yesterday, on my birthday, I received a heartfelt card from the Alabama Concerns for Survivors organization. The message was dated for today and expressed recognition for your sacrifice. It always makes me happy to see others honoring your memory.
Recently, I successfully completed my internship and graduated with a Master's degree. Like you, I will be helping people in my new career, but in a different way. As I end this message, I fondly remember the end of today's conversation with my mom when she said "your dad would be proud of you."
