On this 75th anniversary of my grandfather’s untimely death, I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his service and to thank the City of Troy for going to great lengths to remember him. There is a monument bearing his name outside the police station and I often stop to reflect on his impact and service to the City. I am also remembering all those who he loved most and who have since passed - his wife Marian (Millington), his daughter Elizabeth (Betty) Howard Kelly and his son Edward Howard, Jr.. I’d be remiss if I didn’t remember his maiden aunts, Lizzie and Nora Sullivan who not only helped raise my grandfather but also raised his children after his untimely death.

I wish I had the honor of meeting you sir. Peace to all.
