Trooper Todd Burman was shot and killed during the apprehension of a disorderly, elderly individual while assisting the Camden town marshal in Carroll County.

As both officers followed the man into his home he reappeared with a .30-.30 rifle. The bullet fired penetrated Trooper Burman's vest, killing him. The suspect died of a heart attack while being disarmed by the marshal.

Trooper Burman had served with the Indiana State Police for over 2½ years and was assigned to the Lafayette post.
