Police Officer Kevin Forsythe was struck and killed by a 2-ton gravel truck while directing traffic at N. 7th Ave and W. Maryland Street at 2:15 p.m.

He had been working off-duty for a road chip-sealing crew when the accident occurred.

Officer Forsythe was a United States Army Green Beret Vietnam War veteran and had served with the Phoenix Police Department for seven years. He was survived by his wife, son, stepson, parents, two sisters, and five brothers.

On today, the 40th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
