Officer Chinn was shot and killed when he and his partner responded to a reports of gunfire on Lingers Court, NW. As they neared the scene they discovered that several men were fighting over a craps game. Shots were fired and Officer Chinn was struck in the side and disabled. He succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The shooter was apprehended.

Officer Chinn had been with the agency for three years.
