Charles Bazil Bullock

Inspector Charles Bullock succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Main Street and Lee Highway (modern-day Fairfax Boulevard), in the town of Fairfax, on July 13, 1933.

His motorcycle was struck by a baking company truck, causing him to suffer serious injuries to his hip and left leg. He was released from the hospital but relapsed and was admitted to a hospital in Richmond, Virginia, where he died on February 15, 1934.

Inspector Bullock had only served with the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles for a few months at the time of the crash. He was survived by his wife and parents.


On March 14, 1942, the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles was split into the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of State Police. The Virginia State Police assumed highway patrol duties while the Department of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Division assumed investigative duties.
