View all 267 ReflectionsMajor Barney gave a young angry kid who was trying to better his life a second chance back in 2003. I went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the Special Forces Regiment and now I am retired. I remember his words that day after he talked to my recruiter. He told me, "Don't make me regret this." I carried that through my entire career in the Army and even after my service. He was a pivotal part of my motivation to keep striving for excellence. I am thankful for the kindness he demonstrated to me that day.
