City Marshal Hatch York was shot and killed as he attempted to arrest two suspects.
He and two deputies responded to a call from a railroad brakeman who stated that the two men held him up with pistols. Marshal York observed the men who began to flee. As Marshal York pursued them he was shot in the chest and killed. The two suspects were later apprehended.
Marshal York had served with the Weimar Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
