Trooper Bernard Wright was killed in an automobile crash during a pursuit of a speeder on Route 696 in Halifax County.

Trooper Wright lost control of his patrol car and overturned.

Trooper Wright had served with the Virginia State Police for 15 years. He was survived by his wife, three daughters, one brother, one sister, and his parents.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 34th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
