Officer Rollins was shot and killed after responding to a disturbance at a cafe on Walnut Street. When he arrived the armed owner ordered him to leave. When he returned with backup officers a female waitress shot him in the back.

The suspect was charged with murder but pleaded insanity.

Officer Rollins was survived by his wife and two children.
