Alex was grandson of my Gt Gt grandfather - He emigrated from Scotland through necessity and poverty and left younger brothers and sisters in his home town of Gamrie near Macduff NE Scotland
He was brave in leading the posse in pursuit of 2 renegade Indians but died shot through the heart in the saddle. He is buried with full military honours in Victoria
I have his photo from the Clinton Museum BC and he looks the spitting image of my Son
