Constable Williams was shot and killed in Little Fort while attempting to arrest a man for whom he had a warrant. Constable Williams recognized the man when he rode into town.

As the two spoke the man suddenly pulled out a revolver and opened fire, killing Constable Williams. Despite being mortally wounded, Constable Williams returned fire, but did not strike the suspect.

The man fled the scene on his horse but was located by a posse several days later. He was shot and killed by the posse when he went for his revolver.

Constable Williams was shot and killed in October 1907, but the exact date is not known.
