Suspect Info: Not available Corporal Hockin was part of 2 detachments of officers and a posse who tracked and trapped and escaped criminal native Indian Almighty Voice. He was wanted for cattle rustling and the murder of Sergeant Colin Colebrook in October 1895. Almighty Voice was cornered in a heavily wooded bluff with 2 accomplices.
His cousin, Going-up-in-the-Sky, and his brother-in-law, Tupean, were also wanted for cattle rustling. A troop of officers from Regina arrived with a nine pound gun and another troop from Prince Albert arrived with a seven pound gun.
Also killed in the shootout was Constable John Kerr. When all the shooting stopped Almighty Voice, Going-up-to-the-Sky, Tupean, and a civilian volunteer Mr. Grundy were dead and several others were wounded. Related Line of Duty Deaths | |
