This became known as the Battle at Duck Lake. Two other Mounties died in this battle which was one of a few battles which were yet to be fought over the next three months. Constable Garrett was shot through the lung and died one day after he suffered the chest injury.
He was taken by sleigh to Fort Carlton but died from internal bleeding. Constable George Arnold died the day after the battle in which Constable Thomas Gibson also died. Related Line of Duty Deaths |  |
